In Math we will be introducing coins this week. Could each student bring a baggie with an assortment of 10 coins? Please print your child's name on the baggie. We will do our best to send the baggie home in a couple of weeks. We will learn the names of the coins, count the coins and practise skip counting with the coins.
*For added challenge, grade ones will be introduced to the value of the coins. They can try counting up a total using different coins (for example a dime, a penny and a nickel). I will send home a parent sheet in case that you are interested in doing some coin math at home. The parent sheet will be geared for grade one parents.

Here are some shots taken at activity time. You can see students are engaged in their play and interacting with classmates. Here we have Lego, puzzles and drawing center.
Next I'd like to show you the stages of our egg dying
After we put elastics around the eggs we place the eggs in the dyed water so that the colour from the onion skin would set.
This took about 20 minutes.
We still had to dry the eggs and then take off the elastic bands. Voila!
And a big thanks to Julie for her help and her sharing in the excitement!

We will do an experiment in class to help us understand gravity. We will learn about what it means to make a HYPOTHESIS.
